Health Ministry

   Parish Nurse Program

New Wilmington Presbyterian Church places a loving emphasis on whole person health.  To that end, we've developed a parish nurse program to minister to the health needs of our congregation.  The parish nurses aim to help the church integrate its physical health with its spiritual faith.  These nurses serve as health educators, personal health counselors, referral agents, volunteer trainers, and health advocates.  We also assess the congregation's health needs and develop support groups, seminars, and/or educational opportunities to meet the perceived health-related needs of our members.

  Care Teams

The Health Ministry of NWPC also relies heavily on the support of care teams.  Often the parish nurses will identify needs in the congregation and then activate, through congregational sign-ups or through deacon ministers, care teams to reach out tangibly to meet the need at hand.  An example of this is our NWPC Meals Ministry wherein a group of members, "care team", meet regularly to prepare and freeze meals.  These healthy meals are then delivered by parish nurses, pastors, and/or deacons to those meeting the criteria of a need for food delivered in Christ's healing love.

 Lending Library

In addition to the above ministries, the staff parish nurse is available at the church for health-related counseling and maintains a health ministry lending library for the benefit of the congregation.
